READING LIST  2009-2010

 

Grade 1:  Student should have someone read to them one of the following selections:

            The Grouchy Ladybug by Eric Carle                          Henry and Mudge by C. Rylant

            Lilly’s Purple Plastic Purse by Kevin Henke              There’s An Alligator Under by Bed by M. Mayer    

            Frog and Toad are Friends by A. Lobel                     Amelia Bedelia by Peggy Parish                                

            Any Arthur story by Marc Brown                              Any Junie B. Jones by Barbara Park

            Any Berenstain Bear by Stan and Jan Berenstain      Any Franklin by Paulette Bourgeois

            Every student is required to submit a book report during the first week of school.

 

Grade 2:  We are encouraging all children to read at least one book from the list of authors below.

            Marc Brown    Eric Carle        Barbara Park   Leo Lionni     Cynthia Rylant

            After reading a selection, your child should submit a book report during the first week of school.

 

Grade 3:  Every student is required to read at least one of the following selections and submit a book report

            during the first week of school:

            Junie B. Jones series by Barbara Park Jigsaw Jones Mystery series by James Preller

            Magic Tree House series by Mary Pope Osborne

 

Grade 4:  All students are required to read at least two books during the summer and submit book reports

during the first week of school. Please do not select a book previously read. Please select the books from the following authors:       Beverly Cleary or Matt Christopher

 

Grade 5:  The students in fifth grade will be required to do a summer book report.  The students must choose a book from the list below and fill out the book report.

            A Wrinkle In Time by Madeleine L’Engle                 Call It Courage by Armstrong Sperry

            Charlotte’s Web by E.B. White                                  Ben and Me by Robert Lawson

 

Grade 6: The students in sixth grade will be required to do a summer book report.  The students must choose a book from the list below and fill out the book report

            The Great Gilly Hopkins by Katherine Peterson   Barack Obama our 44^th President by Beatrice Gormley

 

Grade 7:  Suggested reading list:

Grade 8: Each student is asked to read at least one of the following books and submit a completed book report in the first week of school.
